The Château is named after Ausone, a 4th century Latin poet noted for his love of wine, who is said to have lived in Saint-Emilion.

Located on the southern ramparts of Saint-Emilion, this 7-hectare vineyard produces 55% Cabernet Franc and 45% Merlot grape varieties. Most of the vines are over fifty years old and produce very small yields. The vines have been worked according to organic farming techniques for many decades.
